Times are Tough

I am amazed at number of people who are complaining about times being tough and money being tight and yet do not seem to understand the only thing to do is spend less. Maybe it is because I went through the recession of the 70s and my Mom lived through the depression and instilled some frugal traits in me. That is NOT to say I don't like to spend money when times are good, but it isn't necessary to my happiness. I see so many people that are depressed and groaning and moaning all the time that they don't have any money yet they have expensive cell phones (I am not saying you shouldn't have a cell phone, but a prepay would allow you much more control). They are still going out to dinner once a week and buying oodles of convenience foods like cookies and frozen pizzas at the grocery store and going to the movies (nothing wrong with renting them and when you consider you don't have to buy snacks at the theater it is SO much cheaper!) It just puzzles me people are so down because they can't buy more STUFF. What on earth do we need a bunch of STUFF for? Nothing we have belongs to us anyway, it all belongs to God and we are just the stewards of it for our time on earth. If you take care of what you have and appreciate it, He will give you more. If you don't believe me read the parable of the Talents. Okay, I am hopping off my soapbox now.

The weather is starting to get a little warmer and I have hopes summer will come soon. Though living in Michigan that is probably a little silly to be hoping for when it isn't even mid-May yet. I am just anxious for sunshine and a little warmth. I actually got to wear shorts a couple days ago and it was awesome!

I have also started "de-junking" my house. After living here for so many years and still having things of my Mom's (even though she died 2 1/2 years ago) I have decided to take charge. One room, one drawer, one day, at a time. So far I have my bedroom done and the linen closet upstairs which is huge and tended to be a catch-all. I am working in the upstairs bathroom now but I got a little side-tracked today. I helped a lady from church do her resume and it was bread making day too so I didn't get as much done as I had hoped. I am getting rid of all the things we don't use and scrubbing every room top to bottom. This just MAY take me all summer but at least it will eventually be done. I am not in any hurry, I am in NO fear that someone will break into the house and do it for me. :)

Okay, I am off to do a little Bible Study and read the book my daughter gave me yesterday. It is number eleven in the Left Behind series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins, it is called Armageddon. I LOVE this series!

sometime I wonder why people have to complain about hard time with money and things...I had live in time that you have been through...My mother always make things and we never went out to eat...I was taught how to save and get more...and not get many things as my parent can't afford...we were always happy what we get...as for vacation, we go camping which save us a lots of money because we bring out own foods just like if we eat at home...many good memories going camping...also we go to my grandparent's farm, many time we stay overnight at the farm...we just do something on our own to have fun and do our chore..
As now, I am just thankful that I have a roof over my head, food to eat and even I don't have a car, I spent time walking which is good for me...sometime it bother me when people complain about gas price, why do they need to drive to the store when they live close by...save gas money if you just walk to the store...I have done it many time...no complaining for me...I am just happy with what I can do and get for what is really need in life to live and getting the need of material things that don't need in life...Look like you are not the only one that need cleaning done, I NEED TO DO THAT TOO...I used to do spring cleaning...it seem that we came from the same generation...
Thanks for sharing this...Great writing too...
